Gardner-Webb defeats D-II's Erskine 98-58 in season opener

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) - Brendan Mykalcio had 15 points in Gardner-Webb's 98-58 victory over D-II member Erskine in a season opener on Monday night.

Mykalcio added 11 rebounds for the Runnin' Bulldogs. Darryl Simmons II scored 15 points while shooting 5 for 7, including 4 for 6 from beyond the arc. Caleb Robinson shot 4 of 8 from the field and 6 for 9 from the line to finish with 14 points, while adding six rebounds.

The Flying Fleet were led by Moses Cheek, who posted 10 points. Jalen Robinson added nine points for Erskine. In addition, Jaylen Prioleau had eight points.

NEXT UP

Gardner-Webb plays Friday against Arkansas on the road, and Erskine visits Jacksonville on Saturday.
