LSU hasn't posted a victory in the all-time series since Jan. 29, 2020, when it defeated Alabama 90-76 at home. The Tigers (15-2, 3-2 SEC) attempt to end the slide when they visit the Crimson Tide (11-6, 2-3) for an SEC showdown on Wednesday.

LSU has been getting solid offensive performances from Eric Gaines of late. The sophomore guard is averaging 9.2 points this season after scoring a season-high 15 in a victory at Florida on Jan. 12 and following with 14 in a loss to Arkansas three days later. Prior to the back-to-back productive efforts, Gaines had scored in double figures in only five of his previous 15 contests this campaign.
The Crimson Tide have lost three straight contests and four of their last six, but they just as easily could be entering Wednesday with a seven-game winning streak. Each of Alabama's defeats during the stretch have been by fewer than seven points, including a 78-76 setback at Mississippi State on Saturday in which Keon Ellis missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer. The senior guard finished with 14 points in that contest, giving him a season-best streak of four straight games with double-digit totals.
Jaden Shackelford leads Alabama with an average of 16.2 points and has reached double digits in all but one of his 17 outings this season. Fellow junior guard Jahvon Quinerly, who is second on the team in scoring (14.8 points), is eager to bounce back from a five-point effort against Mississippi State that ended his streak of nine consecutive double-digit performances. Shackelford and Quinerly were productive against LSU last season, as both averaged 15.3 points over the three victories.
