The New York Knicks and New Orleans Pelicans were two of just four teams that weren't on Wednesday's NBA schedule, and they'll meet tonight. With only six teams in action on Thursday, perhaps a player like Evan Fournier is worth considering in your NBA DFS lineups. Fournier can be as streaky as they come, but over his last six starts, he's averaged 20.5 points and hit 56.3 percent of his three-point attempts. In the previous meeting between the two teams earlier this season, Fournier hit 62.5 percent of his three-pointers and scored 19 points.
New Orleans has allowed opponents to hit 37.3 percent of their 3PAs this season, which is the second-highest rate in the NBA. One of McClure's top NBA DFS picks for Thursday is Suns guard Devin Booker, who is listed at $8,300 on DraftKings and $9,000 on FanDuel. Booker is coming off a season-high 48-point performance in his last game against San Antonio on Monday. He's scored at least 30 points in each of his last three games and in seven of his 14 starts since returning from a hamstring injury in early December.
The Suns play the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, and the last time Booker saw them was when they played consecutive games in mid-November. Booker scored 43 total points and hit 41.7 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. Over his last three games, Booker has made 52.6 percent of his shots from the field, as well as 38.7 percent of his threes.
Another key in McClure's optimal NBA DFS strategy includes stacking Booker with Phoenix center JaVale McGee ($4,000 on DraftKings and $4,800 on FanDuel). McGee's numbers were a bit underwhelming in relief of Deandre Ayton (ankle) on Monday, but much of that was due to Booker going off. In 11 starts this season, McGee has averaged 12.5 points and 10.1 rebounds, so he should bounce back tonight against Dallas.
McGee was very effective in his two previous games against the Mavs. In just under 28 total minutes of action, he totaled 24 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and two assists. As the starter on Monday against San Antonio, he played 23 minutes. In his most recent start before that, McGee scored 16 points and had eight rebounds with two blocks against Oklahoma City on December 29.
