GAME PREVIEW
Cy Young winners highlight Dodgers' opener at D-backsFLMCy Young Award winners and former teammates Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw will meet for the second time when the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers open a three-game series Monday in Phoenix.Kershaw went 8 1/3 innings in a 7-1 victory over Greinke at Dodger Stadium on April 14, 2017. Greinke left the Dodgers to sign a six-year, $206.5 million free agent contract with the Diamondbacks in the winter of 2015.The two remain at the top of their games. Kershaw (7-1, 2.85 ERA) is sixth in the National League in ERA and fifth in WHIP (1.05). Greinke (8-3, 2.91) is seventh in ERA and third in WHIP (0.93).The Dodgers have won nine of 11 while building a 13-game lead over Colorado in the NL West, their largest lead of the season and the largest in the majors. They are a season-high 29 games over .500.They used an historic formula to sweep a weekend series against the Rockies, taking all three games on walk-off homers by rookies Matt Beaty, Alex Verdugo and Will Smith. Smith's homer was good for a 6-3 victory Sunday and marked the first time in major league history that rookies have hit walk-off homers in three consecutive games, according to the Elias Sports Bureau."Just when you think it can't get any better, it does," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. The Dodgers have outscored their opponents 58-32 in the last 11 games. Cody Bellinger, who has tied his 2018 season total with 25 homers, has a .409 batting average with two home runs in 22 at-bates vs. Greinke.Arizona broke a season-high six-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over San Francisco on Tim Locastro's walk-off single in the 10th inning Sunday. The Diamondbacks were in danger of falling three games below .500 for the second time this season. The Diamondbacks have been outscored 55-26 in the last seven games and are 15-21 at home. Only Miami (13-25) has a worse home record in the NL.Locastro's walk-off single provided a spark for a team that was 10-for-53 with runners in scoring position while losing the first five games of the homestand. They were 3-for-6 in such situations on Sunday, with Locastro delivering twice."What I see sometimes with men in scoring position is we come out of our routine," Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said."Pitchers, what they do with men in scoring position is no mystery. They start throwing two-strike pitches on oh-oh (counts). There is a different method to it. It's that game within a game. The players are aware. You just have to be patient early in the counts." Kershaw is 16-9 with a 2.59 ERA in 31 games against Arizona but is less successful at Chase Field, where he is 6-8 with a 3.70 ERA in 15 starts.Greinke is 7-6 with a 4.28 in 16 career starts against the Dodgers -- 5-6 and 4.90 since joining the Diamondbacks. He will face the Dodgers for the first time since giving up seven runs and four homers in 3 2/3 innings of a 12-5 loss to Hyun-Jin Ryu in the season opener for both team March 28 in Dodger Stadium.Arizona center fielder/second baseman Ketel Marte could return to the lineup Monday after missing the final two games of the San Francisco series with a groin injury. He was removed after hitting a single in the third inning Friday, his sixth straight multi-hit game.--Field Level Media

GAME RECAP
Diamondbacks top Dodgers 8-5, end winning streak at 6 gamesPHOENIX David Peralta hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied for an 8-5 win over the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.Former Dodger Tim Locastro put the game out of reach with a two-run double off losing pitcher Dylan Floro (2-2), part of a four-run outburst in the eighth for the Diamondbacks. Christian Walker and starting pitcher Zack Greinke homered, Ketel Marte had two hits for his seventh consecutive multi-hit game and the Diamondbacks ended the Dodgers' winning streak at six games. The highly anticipated battle of Cy Young Award winners didn't produce much of a pitchers' duel, though both the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw and Greinke lasted six innings.Yoan Lopez (1-1) worked a scoreless inning and earned the win.Max Muncy drove in three runs for the Dodgers. The Dodgers jumped on Greinke for three runs in the first inning. Joc Peterson and Justin Turner singled, and with one out, Cody Bellinger doubled to right-center, plating the first run. Muncy grounded out to first, allowing Turner to score. Then, Chris Taylor doubled to right field, bringing home Bellinger. Both Bellinger and Taylor hit first pitches from Greinke.Kershaw was burned twice with two-out mistakes. Walker took him deep to left-center field in the bottom of the first, tying the game. That gave Walker three home runs in his first six career at-bats against the Dodgers' ace, tying him for the most homers against Kershaw among active players.Greinke's second-inning home run was a line drive into the left-field seats, his career-high third of the season. Both pitchers settled down after early struggles, but the Dodgers squandered an opportunity to at least draw even in the sixth. Bellinger singled and Muncy reached on a throwing error, before Greinke struck out the side. The Dodgers threatened again in the seventh, and after Greinke departed one batter in. Bellinger was intentionally walked a second time, loading the bases. Muncy drew a two-out walk from Yoshihisa Hirano, tying the game at 4-all.Hirano battled back from a 3-1 count on Taylor, striking him out looking and ending the inning.Greinke and Kershaw had identical lines of six innings and four runs on seven hits allowed. Greinke struck out six; Kershaw struck out two.Greg Holland got one out in the ninth for his 200th career save.AH-'MED'-ZINGAhmed leaped high in the air to take a base hit away from the Dodgers' Will Smith in the top of the eighth, snaring a line drive and drawing a standing ovation from Diamondbacks fans, plus a tip of the cap from teammate Eduardo Escobar.HISTORIC BLASTGreinke's home run marked the seventh time in history of that a former Cy Young winner hit a home run against a fellow former Cy Young winner, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Greinke joined former Dodgers great Don Drysdale as the only former Cy Young winners to hit multiple career home runs against other former Cy Young winners.Greinke's homers came off former Phillies star Cliff Lee in 2012 and Kershaw on Monday. Drysdale hit two home runs off Warren Spahn in 1965.FAN INCIDENT, AGAINFor the second straight game, a female fan ran from out of the stands toward Bellinger. She reached him before security got there and escorted her from the field. It happened in the bottom of the eighth inning.A 14-year-old girl attempted to get a hug from Bellinger during Sunday's game at Dodger Stadium as he stood in the outfield.MOVING PARTSThe Dodgers had Pederson at first base on Monday, a recent development, and manager Dave Roberts hopes to use Austin Barnes, Monday's catcher, at second base this week. Also, Roberts is looking to give catcher Russell Martin a start at third base. ''Just kind of continue to increase options for our roster,'' Roberts said.TRAINER'S ROOMDiamondbacks: Marte was back in the lineup after missing the last two days dealing with a minor groin injury. ... RHP Luke Weaver's MRI showed improvement on his elbow area, but there is no timetable for when he will start throwing.UP NEXTDodgers: Roberts announced before the game that RHP Ross Stripling (3-2) will start Tuesday's game.
