UNLV vs. Colorado State odds, line: 2022 college basketball picks, Jan. 28 prediction from proven model

The Colorado State Rams are 16-1, made an appearance in the AP Top 25 for the first time in over five years, but still find themselves second in the Mountain West Conference heading into Friday's matchup with UNLV. The Rebels are coming off of a lopsided loss to San Diego State on Monday, and haven't won consecutive games since mid-December. Rams guard David Roddy was the team's top scorer last season, and has picked up where he left off this year, with 18.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

Tipoff from Moby Arena is set for 9 p.m. ET, where the Rams won both games they played against UNLV last season. The Rams are favored by 15 points in the latest Colorado State vs. UNLV odds from Caesars Sportsbook, and the over-under is set at 141.5. Before entering any UNLV vs. Colorado State picks, you'll want to see the college basketball predictions from the model at SportsTek.

Colorado State didn't have much trouble with the Nevada Wolf Pack at home on Tuesday in a 77-66 win. Roddy had another top performance, with 18 points and eight rebounds to go with six assists. Other players that finished in double-figures for Colorado State included: Isaiah Stevens (16 points, five rebounds) and Chandler Jacobs (14 points, five rebounds).

The Rams have been one of the sharpest offensive teams in the country, and have hit 50.2 percent of their shots this season, which is the fourth-highest mark in all of college basketball. Additionally, the Rams have been a strong 3-point shooting side, and have hit 38.2 percent of their attempts, which puts them in the top-20, nationally. Roddy has also been Colorado State's biggest threat from beyond the arc, as he's hit 22 of his 48 3-point shots this year.

San Diego State grabbed the first lead of the game and never let go against UNLV in the Rebels' last game, which ended in a 80-55 loss. On a positive note, guard Bryce Hamilton had 23 points and six boards, which makes three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 42 percent of UNLV's total points. In similar fashion to Roddy, Hamilton was UNLV's top playmaker from last season, and this year, he's averaged 19.8 points per game.

In conference play this season, the Rebels have led the Mountain West in offensive rebounds, with 10.1 per outing. Starting forward Royce Hamm Jr. has been the team's top man under the glass, where he averages 2.6 offensive boards and 9.9 total rebounds.

The model is leaning over on the total, and it's also generated a point-spread pick that is hitting in just over 50 percent of simulations. You can only see the pick at SportsTek.
