Orioles going for rare sweep vs. IndiansFLMThe Baltimore Orioles will look for their first sweep since August 2018 as they take on the Cleveland Indians at home Sunday. The Orioles (24-58) already have already earned their first series win since late April by winning the first two games of the series."We've had so many opportunities to win a series," Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde said. "I think there was a stretch where we won the first game of a series (three times) in a row and just wasn't able to do it. So to win a series obviously feels great." In the first two games of the series, the Orioles offense has exploded, scoring 13 runs in both games. Baltimore became the first team in MLB history to score 13 runs in back-to-back shutouts, and the 13 runs is the most the Orioles have scored in a game this season.Baltimore has used big innings to secure their wins, including three four-run innings Friday and a six-run inning Saturday.Anthony Santander, Chance Sisco and Jonathan Villar have led the charge for the Orioles. Over the two games, Santander is 5-for-9 with two home runs and three runs scored; Sisco is 4-for-9 with two home runs, seven RBIs and five runs; and Villar is 2-for-5 with five walks and four runs scored."We got a ton of great at-bats and a ton of really good swings," Hyde said after Saturday's game. "Just really good at-bats up and down the lineup." Santander and Sisco were both called up earlier in June and have had very productive months. Santander is hitting .288 for the month while Sisco has a .400 on-base percentage and .690 slugging percentage.Gabriel Ynoa (0-5) is projected to start for Baltimore. The native of the Dominican Republic has started five games in the month of June, and all five have been losses for the Orioles. Ynoa has been the losing pitcher in four of those games.Since being put in the rotation at the end of May, Ynoa has a 7.48 ERA and averaged under five innings per start. Ynoa has faced the Indians five times in his career -- more than any other team -- and has allowed 10 runs in 13 1/3 innings. As for Cleveland (44-38), the Indians look to finish a strong month of June on a high note. Cleveland is 16-9 for the month of June after struggling to a 12-17 mark in May.Carlos Santana, who was named the starting first baseman for the American League in the All-Star Game on Thursday, has had a really solid month of June, hitting eight home runs with a .413 on-base percentage. Rookie Oscar Mercado has also played well in the month with a .304 batting average.Right-hander Shane Bieber (6-3) will try to right the ship for the Indians. Bieber had the best start of his young career last month against Baltimore in his only meeting with the Orioles. The pitcher threw his first career shutout in a 10-0 victory over the Orioles on May 19 in Cleveland. In addition to holding Baltimore without a run, he allowed only five hits and no walks while striking out 15 batters."It was a really good day to hit," Cleveland manager Terry Francona said after the May 19 game. "I thought he had the best breaking ball we've seen yet, and he obviously located his fastball. He didn't walk anybody. That was a pretty impressive day." This is the last matchup between the two AL opponents this season, with both teams having won three games and lost three.--Field Level Media
