He is 1-4 in six lifetime starts against the Phillies with an ERA of 6.39.Arrieta improved to 8-1 in 11 career starts against the Marlins and has won all three starts against them this year.WEIRD BUT TRUEThe Phillies manufactured an odd run in the third. With runners at the corners and one out, Harper ran on a 3-2 pitch to Rhys Hoskins, who struck out. When Alfaro threw to second, Harper stopped before reaching the base. That allowed Kingery to score from third without a play before Harper was tagged out for an inning-ending double play.Philadelphia found another bizarre way to score in the sixth. Harper singled with the bases loaded, but when Arrieta hesitated before advancing from second, he and Segura found themselves both at third. Marlins eye second sweep of PhilliesFLMA week after a three-game road sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Miami Marlins look for a similar outcome against their division rival on Sunday, attempting to erase what began as a frustrating homestand.The Marlins rallied from a five-run deficit for a 9-6 victory Saturday and won their fifth straight over the Phillies."It's easier to play when you have confidence and you have proven to yourself you can beat a team," said Miami centerfield JT Riddle, whose two-run double in a six-run seventh put the Marlins ahead for good.Miami began the homestand getting swept in three games by Washington. Now the team has an opportunity finish 3-3 in its six-game set at Marlins Park.Trevor Richards will start the series finale for the Marlins, his second straight against a former Cy Young Award winner. On Tuesday, Richards faced the Nationals' Max Scherzer and was lifted after five innings. Richards (3-8, 3.94 ERA) allowed six runs and seven hits in the Marlins' 6-1 loss."They made me throw pitches up and took advantage of those pitches," Richards said of his outing against Washington. "I felt I had a good approach -- I just didn't execute." Richards is 1-3 with a 6.64 ERA in five starts against the Phillies in his two-year career, including a 12-9 loss at Philadelphia on April 27 when he allowed five runs on six hits in four innings.The Phillies do not believe the Marlins have their number, despite their current slide against the team with the National League's worst record. For Philadelphia, the losses to Miami are sandwiched around a four-game sweep of the New York Mets."I don't think it matters as much who we're playing right now as how we are playing right now," Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said. "We saw through the Mets series that when we play good baseball, we're capable of really big things, and when we don't play our best baseball, it doesn't matter who the team on the other side of the field is. We're not going to win." First baseman Rhys Hoskins' two-run homer Saturday gave the Phillies a 6-1 lead and a seemingly safe cushion before relievers Juan Nicasio and Adam Morgan surrendered three runs each in the seventh."I don't know," Hoskins said when asked about the team's losing streak against the Marlins. "Obviously, they've pitched well all year. Their rotation and their bullpen have been nails all year."Yeah this one's tough. I thought we had good at-bats all day. Frustrating, but like I've said time and time again, the beautiful part about this game is we have a chance to salvage the series (Sunday) and gain some momentum going to wherever we go next." Philadelphia's lineup hit four home runs in the 7-5 victory.The 2015 NL Cy Young Award winner is 2-0 against Miami this year, allowing six runs on 14 hits in 12 innings with both wins coming in April (the second against Richards on the 27th).
