Giants go for third straight win vs. Phillies 1h ago• 2 min read SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco Giants left-hander Ty Blach gets a chance to relive a piece of individual history when he pitches and hits against the Philadelphia Phillies for the second time in his career Saturday night.The Giants will be looking for a third consecutive win when Blach duels Phillies right-hander Jerad Eichhoff.Left-hander Matt Moore scripted a winning formula for Blach when he took a shutout into the eighth inning in Friday's 10-2 win over the Phillies. He allowed only two hits in his 7 1/3 innings."He got into a good rhythm tonight," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said of Moore's dominant effort. "It looked like he was playing catch with (catcher) Buster (Posey)." Blach had similar success against the Phillies when he faced them in Philadelphia in June.The 26-year-old posted the first shutout of his career when he allowed seven hits and no walks in a 10-0 win.What made the game all the more memorable for Blach was that he was walked three times while at the plate. The first two walks were issued by Eichhoff.Blach came around to score twice in the Giants' most lopsided victory of the season.Only one pitcher in Major League Baseball history had previously thrown a shutout and walked three times in the same game. That occurred 66 years earlier, when Robin Roberts of the Phillies accomplished the feat against the Chicago Cubs.Blach (8-8, 4.37 ERA) has won just four times in 12 starts since then. He's 3-0 in nine starts, allowing more than two earned runs just three times.He did not get a decision despite allowing just one earned run in five innings in the Phillies' 7-4 loss at San Diego on Monday.The Phillies formally announced that they will finish the series without hot-hitting center fielder Odubel Herrera, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list before Friday's game.The Phillies played the game with just 24 players, but they're are expected to make a roster addition before Saturday's first pitch.Herrera, who extended his hitting streak to 17 games Monday in San Diego, hadn't played since because of a strained left hamstring.
