Reyes returns to mound as Cardinals face Brewers 3h ago• 2 min read MILWAUKEE -- Alex Reyes has waited 15 long months for this moment.Once the St. Louis Cardinals' top prospect -- and the No. 3 prospect in all of baseball -- Reyes was destined to join the ranks of great home-grown pitches before blowing out his elbow and undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2016.He'll return to the mound Wednesday afternoon when the Cardinals wrap up a three-game series with the National League Central-leading Brewers at Miller Park.Called up for the first time in August 2016, Reyes appeared in 12 games for the Cardinals, going 4-1 with a 1.57 ERA and 52 strikeouts 46 innings of work but suffered a complete tear of his ulnar collateral ligament during a pre-camp bullpen session and missed the entire season.He was with the Cardinals all through spring training this year and returned to live action in early May when he began a minor league rehab assignment.
