Time: 8:30 PM EDT Venue: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX, 75219 / The Dallas Stars are one point away from securing their first playoff appearance in three years and will be anxious to get over that hurdle when they host the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. The Stars (41-31-7, 89 points) hold the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference, ahead of Colorado in the second wild-card spot. With three regular-season contests remaining -- two at home -- Dallas is five points ahead of Arizona, the ninth-place team in the West. The Stars head home after a 3-0-1 road trip that produced seven crucial points and put them on the brink of clinching. The lone loss came in Vancouver on Saturday, when Dallas rallied from a 2-0 third-period deficit and earned a point despite dropping a 3-2 result in a shootout. Andrew Cogliano and Alexander Radulov scored the Dallas goals, and Anton Khudobin recorded 29 saves to help the Stars claw closer to the playoffs." Great point. Great point," Stars coach Jim Montgomery said after the game. "Great road trip. We have a team that believes right now, and it's fun to watch. We're more in concert together, both offensively and defensively. We've seen it defensively for a long time. Before, we were just going -- you couldn't see a real plan. Now, you see a real plan." Radulov continues to carry the team with his offense and his attitude. His goal against Vancouver marked his third-straight game finding the net and increased his point streak to five games (three goals, three assists). Since being a healthy scratch on March 5 for being tardy to a team meeting, Radulov has racked up 15 points (10 goals, 5 assists) in 13 games. His 10 goals in March tied for the league lead with Boston's Patrice Bergeron. His latest surge came after enduring an 11-game goal drought in January and February." You just have to play your game and play hard," Radulov told NHL.com. "Earlier, I wasn't scoring, but I couldn't get frustrated. The game is like that sometimes. Sometimes the puck just goes in and sometimes it doesn't. If you let that bother you, it can hurt your game. So just go out and play your game and play hard, and hopefully you score." The Flyers (37-34-8, 82 points) have already been eliminated from the playoffs but relish the role of spoilers of Dallas. Philadelphia travels to Big D on the heels of a 3-0 loss at home to the New York Rangers on Sunday. The loss ended the Flyers' six-game win streak over New York, forcing Philadelphia to settle for a 3-1 record against the Rangers this season. The setback came in the Flyers' first game since being eliminated from the postseason on Saturday at Carolina, and their lack of emotion was a factor in the loss." Being eliminated 1/8stinks 3/8," Flyers rookie goaltender Carter Hart said. "But at the same time we still have to play for pride and the logo on the front of our jersey. We need to finish strong so we can carry it into next season." Sunday's loss was the seventh time the Flyers were shut out this season, and the first time since Jan. 7 by St. Louis." We have to stick to each other -- play our game and play for the team," Flyers defenseman Robert Hagg told the Inquirer after the Flyers' fourth loss in five games and seventh in their last 10. "That didn't happen (against the Rangers). It's frustrating. We talked before the game about doing all the small things for the team, and we go out there and do the exact opposite." Philadelphia beat the Stars 2-1 on Jan. 10 at home in the teams' only other meeting this season.--Field Level Media
