ISLAMABAD (AP) - India and Pakistan will meet in the Asia Cup after the archrivals were drawn in the same group of the Twenty20 tournament starting this month in the United Arab Emirates.
The two will meet in Dubai on Aug. 28, a day after the tournament opens with Sri Lanka vs. Afghanistan.
Pakistan and India will be joined by a qualifier in Group A. Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are in Group B.
The top two from the groups advance to a Super 4 in which every team plays each other. The final is on Sept. 11.
The qualifier will come from UAE, Kuwait, Singapore or Hong Kong. They meet in Oman from Aug. 20.
The tournament was to be hosted by Sri Lanka, but it was moved because of the economic crisis there. Sri Lanka remained the designated host.
Dubai will host 10 games and Sharjah the remaining three matches.
India won the last Asia Cup in 2018 when it was played in the one-day international format.
