Three matchweeks have already separated the clean starts from the complicated rebuilds. Defending champion Arsenal and Manchester City are the only clubs with nine points from nine, while Arsenal’s 2-1 comeback against Chelsea on September 6 removed the league’s other perfect record. Liverpool finally won on the third attempt after two 2-2 draws, beating Ipswich Town 2-0, while promoted Hull reached the same checkpoint without conceding a league goal. Three games are not a season, but they are enough to show which summer changes have settled quickly and which still need time.
Arsenal Has the Cleanest Case for Another Title
Arsenal enters the first serious stretch as the club everyone else still has to dislodge. Mikel Arteta’s side ended a 22-year title wait in 2025-26, then responded to William Saliba’s long-term injury by signing Ezri Konsa, and strengthened midfield with Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle; Christos Tzolis also arrived after producing 17 goals and 23 assists in Belgium last season. The early football has supported that recruitment: Arsenal has won all three league matches and conceded once, while Martin Odegaard scored the winner against Chelsea, created four chances and completed 24 line-breaking passes. That defensive control and established structure make Arsenal the narrow September favorite.
City Changed the Manager but Not the Standard
Manchester City has also collected nine points, but its summer required far more structural work. Enzo Maresca replaced Pep Guardiola, while Elliot Anderson and deadline-day signing Enzo Fernandez joined a rebuilt midfield after Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders and Bernardo Silva departed; Fernandez’s move from Chelsea was reported at £125 million. Erling Haaland remains the stable reference point, scoring his 20th Premier League headed goal against Coventry, while Gianluigi Donnarumma recovered from an early mistake to make several important saves in the same match. City is learning a new coach’s ideas with a reshaped core, yet its perfect start keeps it level with Arsenal.
Chelsea and Liverpool Carry Different Kinds of Risk
Chelsea’s first defeat should not erase the progress in Xabi Alonso’s opening weeks. It won its first two league matches, added Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, and saw Cole Palmer record two goals and an assist across August before Arsenal ended the perfect league start at Emirates Stadium. Losing Enzo Fernandez to City removes a major passer from midfield, but Chelsea’s front line has already shown enough output to make a Champions League place a realistic target. The title case is less mature.
Liverpool’s uncertainty comes from a larger identity change. Andoni Iraola inherited a side that finished fifth last season and lost Mohamed Salah to Trabzonspor, then added Bradley Barcola to an attack already featuring Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz. Isak scored both goals in the 2-0 win at Ipswich, Liverpool’s first league victory after consecutive 2-2 draws, while Barcola reached this season's fastest Premier League sprint on his debut. The attacking ceiling is obvious; the new pressing structure still needs more evidence.
Hull Has Already Broken the Promoted-Team Script
Hull is the early surprise among the teams outside the title race. Back in the Premier League after nine years away, it started with a 2-0 win over Manchester United, with Semi Ajayi and club-record signing Nobel Mendy on the scoresheet. It followed that up with a 1-0 victory at Coventry, even though Coventry had finished 22 points ahead of Hull in the previous Championship season. Three matches in, Hull is still the only Premier League team yet to concede. Nobody is seriously tipping it for the title, but staying up already looks like a realistic goal rather than a distant hope.
Three Matches Can Distort a Betting Market
Three games are enough to create excitement, but not enough to prove much on their own. Early odds can shift quickly, so anyone interested in football betting (Arabic: مراهنات كرة القدم) should look beyond the table and consider the bigger picture: new managers, injuries, transfer changes, and the quality of the opposition. Arsenal’s perfect start means more because it comes from the reigning champion, which has kept much of its structure intact. Liverpool’s win at Ipswich needs a little more patience after two opening draws and a summer of attacking changes. Keeping a fixed bankroll also helps avoid chasing every price move, especially when team news, injuries or red cards can change a match in minutes.
The Early Forecast Still Runs Through Arsenal and City
The September projection remains Arsenal first and Manchester City second, with Chelsea and Liverpool forming the strongest group immediately behind them. Arsenal has fewer tactical questions to answer, while City’s squad quality should keep Maresca close as a new midfield settles; Chelsea looks capable of improving substantially on last season’s 10th-place finish, and Liverpool has enough attacking quality to return to the top four. The next useful checkpoint arrives on October 11, when Liverpool hosts Manchester City at Anfield. By then, the sample should be large enough to distinguish an opening streak from a genuine title pattern.
