Vikings at LA Chargers...
Last year, before the 2024 draft, John Harbaugh damn near lost his voice singing the praises of JJ McCarthy, his QB at Michigan. Some even speculated that he might trade Justin Herbert and pick the former Wolverine in the first round. That didn’t happen. McCarthy was still a top ten pick, but it was the Vikings who ended up taking a chance on him. However, he never saw the field last year due to an injury. Then Sam Darnold rose from the bust-status ashes to resurrect his career in his absence and was subsequently released in the offseason and signed by Seattle. This year the McCarthy era began Minneapolis like a North Korean Missile launch. And he’s been out with another injury for the last few games. Carson Wentz has averaged two picks a game in his time filling in as a backup. No wins. As I write this, it is still unclear whether McCarthy will be back tonight or Wentz will have an opportunity to throw two more picks in primetime. The Chargers are going against one of the most formidable pass rushes in the league with the Vikings, and they’ll be doing it without their starting tackles (again) which will make things interesting. But I’m taking Harbaugh and Herbert at home. They’ll have to find a way to stop WRs Jefferson and Addison, but an extra possession or two should be enough to eke out a much needed W and keep pace with the surging Chiefs and upstart Broncos. Final answer: LAC -3 vs. Min.* Cell Door Locks tomorrow. May the force be with you.
*Claude disagrees with Bond$ on tonight’s game.
