The Wizards didn't have too much breathing room in their contest with the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 112-106 victory. Washington can attribute much of their success to power forward Kyle Kuzma, who almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. CenterMontrezl Harrellcontributed 16 points along with eight boards.

Washington won without its best player and leading scorer in Bradley Beal (protocols) who remains out for Saturday. The Wizards are 6-2 when Beal does not play compared to just a 2-10 record last season when he sat out. A big reason for the team's success has been the play of Kuzma who is playing like an All-Star since the calendar flipped to 2022. Kuzma is averaging 26.4 points and 11.9 rebounds in seven January games.

Meanwhile it's hard to picture a worse loss than the 140-108 bruising that Rip City suffered against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday. Portland was down 101-80 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. Shooting guard Ben McLemore (18 points) and point guard Dennis Smith Jr. (17 points) were the top scorers for Portland.

The Blazers will be without their top three scorers for Saturday with Damian Lillard (core), CJ McCollum (reconditioning) and Norman Powell (protocols) all out. That's over 63 points per game missing for Portland so it will need its role players to step up offensively. The Blazers will also need to put in a better effort defensively as the team ranks last in defensive efficiency and is fourth-worst in points allowed per game.

The model has simulated Trail Blazers vs. Wizards 10,000 times and the results are in. We can tell you that the model is leaning Over, and it's also generated a point-spread pick that is hitting in almost 70 percent of simulations. You can only see the pick at SportsLine.
