Red-hot teams looking to stay perfect in Mid-American Conference action clash when the Ohio Bobcats take on the Akron Zips on Tuesday. The Bobcats (10-2, 1-0), who have won five in a row, are coming off a 59-47 win at Western Michigan on Saturday. The Zips (8-3, 1-0) are on a six-game winning streak despite having three games postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. They are coming off an 88-76 conference-opening win over Buffalo on New Year's Day, after their conference matchup with Northern Illinois was postponed. Akron leads the all-time series 45-41, including a 27-14 edge in games played in Akron.

Sophomore guard Mark Sears tops the Bobcats in scoring, averaging 18.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and two steals per game. He is making 47.2 percent of his field goals, including 44.1 percent from 3-point range, as well as 90.5 percent of his free throws. Sears has scored in double figures in all 12 games, including a season-high 33 points in an 85-70 win over South Carolina Upstate on Dec. 21. He poured in 21 points in the win over Western Michigan on New Year's Day.

Sixth-year senior forward Jason Carter returned to Ohio this year after spending the last two seasons at Xavier. He is a solid offensive option, averaging 13.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. Carter has reached double-digit scoring in 11 of 12 games, and has posted a pair of double-doubles. At Western Michigan on Saturday, Carter scored 17 points, and grabbed eight rebounds.
