Last-place Darmstadt rues VAR decisions in draw at Bremen in Bundesliga

BERLIN (AP) - Last-place Darmstadt had two late goals ruled out by VAR and conceded an own-goal as it was held 1-1 at Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Tim Skarke thought he'd won the game in the seventh minute of injury time for Darmstadt, but the goal was ruled out as the ball had hit his arm from Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer's attempted clearance.

Skarke had another goal ruled out for offside in the 78th, and Christoph Zimmermann's own-goal in the eighth minute gave Bremen a share of the points.

Third-place Stuttgart was held 1-1 by visiting Cologne. It was still six points ahead of Borussia Dortmund before Dortmund plays Hoffenheim on Sunday.

Union Berlin and promoted Heidenheim also drew, 2-2, earning a point in their fight against relegation.

Nikola Dovedan fired Heidenheim ahead with a cool finish in the third minute, but Union struck back with two quick-fire goals before the break. Robin Gosens equalized in the 44th, three minutes before Andras Schäfer's shot took a decisive deflection off Brenden Aaronson's back to go inside the right post.

Jan-Niklas Beste finished off a counterattack with a lob over Union goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow to equalize in the 71st, but the Heidenheim forward had to immediately go off with what looked like a hamstring injury.

Union had won its previous four games at home, while Heidenheim is now unbeaten in five games.

Also, Borussia Monchengladbach defeated Bochum 5-2.

Bayern Munich played later Saturday when the 11-time defending champion was aiming to snap a 3-game losing run across all competitions against visiting Leipzig. It was the Bavarian powerhouse's 1,000 home match in the Bundesliga, and the first since announcing coach Thomas Tuchel will leave at the end of the season.

Bayern was 11 points behind league leader Bayer Leverkusen before kickoff.
