Posey looks to stay hot in Cincinnati Buster Posey has turned the tables after a disappointing start to the season, and the San Francisco Giants would like to do the same.Posey will take his eight-game hitting streak on the road on Friday as the Giants begin a seven-game trek with the opener of a four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds. The 2012 National League Most Valuable Player sent San Francisco to its second victory in six outings on Wednesday when his two-out single to left field plated Steven Duggar with the winning run in a 2-1 triumph over the rival Los Angeles Dodgers."I feel like I've been getting in a better position to hit and swinging at better pitches," the 32-year-old Posey told reporters. "Generally when you do that, good things are going to happen." Posey is 10-for-30 with five doubles, eight RBIs and four runs during his hitting streak. He is batting .333 -- though in a small sample size (2-for-6) -- against Friday starter Sonny Gray (0-4, 3.64 ERA), who is in the midst of a hard-luck season after signing a three-year, $30.5 million contract in January.Posey had no RBIs through his first 12 games this season and only two RBIs in 19 games before beginning his active hitting streak.Gray was saddled with the loss on Sunday despite giving up only two runs on three hits in five innings of a 5-2 setback to St. Louis. The 29-year-old owns a 2-0 mark with a 2.08 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in two career meetings with San Francisco, although Evan Longoria (10-for-32, homer) has enjoyed success against him.The Giants will counter with right-hander Tyler Beede, who will be called up from Triple-A Sacramento to make his 2019 major league debut.Beede will take the rotation spot of left-hander Derek Holland, who was shuffled to the 10-day injured list with a bone bruise in his left index finger on Monday. The 25-year-old Beede owns a 1-1 mark with a 1.99 ERA and 34 strikeouts in five starts (22 2/3 innings) with Sacramento."You can see how much better he's gotten," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said of Beede, who posted an 0-1 record with an 8.22 ERA in two starts with San Francisco last year."Just from the end of last year to what you saw last spring. He carried that into Sacramento, so he should feel good about where he's at. His confidence should be way up there. We're excited about getting a chance to watch him." Beede will need to keep an eye on Jose Iglesias, who homered off Edwin Diaz in the ninth inning of Cincinnati's 1-0 win over the New York Mets on Wednesday. Iglesias, however, saw his six-game hitting and run-scoring streaks come to an end in the Reds' 1-0 loss to the Mets on Thursday afternoon."He has come up with big hits. I believe he is going to continue to get better as a hitter," Reds manager David Bell said of the 29-year-old Iglesias. "He is still young. ... He is not afraid of any situation. I think those experiences like a game like (Wednesday) serve him well. He showed he is going to be a big part of this team, this lineup -- offensively and defensively." The Reds may be receiving a boost to their lineup with the expected promotion of star prospect Nick Senzel this weekend, as well.Senzel is the No. 5 overall prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. The 23-year-old is batting .257 with a home run in eight games for Triple-A Louisville since returning from an ankle injury.--Field Level Media
