Hamoda scores 19 as Sacramento State downs Eastern Washington 74-69 in Big Sky Conference Tournament

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Zee Hamoda had 19 points in Sacramento State's 74-69 victory against No. 1 seed Eastern Washington on Sunday night in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Conference Tournament.

Tenth-seeded Sacramento State plays No. 4 seed Weber State or No. 5 seed Montana State in the semifinals on Tuesday.

Hamoda went 6 of 9 from the field (5 for 5 from 3-point range) for the Hornets (10-23). Akolda Mawein scored 17 points while going 6 of 11 and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. Bailey Nunn shot 2 of 4 from the field and 6 for 8 from the line to finish with 11 points.

The Eagles (21-11) were led in scoring by Cedric Coward, who finished with 22 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Casey Jones added 14 points and two steals for Eastern Washington. Ethan Price also had 11 points and six rebounds.

EWU had its four-game win streak snapped.

Mawein scored eight points in the first half for Sacramento State, who led 35-32 at halftime. Nunn's 3-pointer with 15:09 left in the second half gave Sacramento State the lead for good at 46-43.
